Assistant Principal Birklid

Falcon Family,

My name is Amy Jo Birklid, and I’m excited to introduce myself as the Assistant Principal at Foothills Elementary. 

 

Coming back to Foothills is a dream come true for me. 35 years ago, I was a kindergarten student in the Red Wing. I brought a nickel to school every day to buy milk at lunch, and I saved my Falcon Bucks to buy Lisa Frank peechee folders and pencil toppers. After all, a girl had to make sure her school supplies were as colorful as her Care Bear backpack.

 

My journey in education began in 2010 at Bonney Lake High School. I moved back to the White River School District in 2013 to teach my passion: Science. During my time at GMS, I also served as a Robotics and Leadership teacher, Coach, Team Leader, and Building Leader and ended my time at GMS in admin as the Dean of Students for two years. I am thrilled to serve as your Foothills Elementary Assistant Principal.

 

As a mother of two amazing boys, I am driven by the words of Janel Keating Hambly “Is it good enough for my own child?” I will be here every step of the way to ensure high levels of learning and a safe and welcoming environment.
